FUTUREHOUSE SLAB PANEL

Futurehouse slab panels can be used for floor slabs of varying spans.

The Futurehouse Slab System comprises a panel with the same profile and mesh reinforcing as the walling panel but with two channels cut out of the EPS which, with additional reinforcing rebar, create beams when cast with concrete.

The height of the slab panels varies by span of the slab and is determined by engineering requirements. A typical slab panel is 200mm high with two beams cut to 160mm deep and 120mm wide.

There is then an additional 50mm of concrete poured above mesh height to give a finished slab thickness of 250mm.

Construction Method

The slab panels are attached to Futurehouse walls, or conventional walls, either with corner mesh, or with rebar starter bars drilled into the wall, or resting on top of the walls.

Panels are then propped and shuttered accordingly.

Rebar (Y12 to Y16 typically) according to engineer’s specifications is placed in the beam channels. The rebar must be spaced / raised approximately 20mm from the base of the beam.

Concrete is then poured to 50mm above mesh height.

Underside of slab can either be plastered or have a suspended ceiling attached as per requirement.

System benefits:

  • Thermally insulating and energy saving.

  • Meets regulated energy efficiency building codes.

  • Quick and easy to install and build.

  • Can be used for long spans and cantilevered sections where required.

  • Slab panel is light before concrete pouring so does not require crane for initial installation on multi level buildings.

  • Building speed >10 times that of brick and block achievable.

  • Structural integrity - creates a monolithic building shell tied together and fully reinforced.

  • Sound- can significantly reduce impact sound.

  • Ideal for all types of building - residential, renovations, industrial, multi storey commercial.
